The
National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) calls drug abuse a “complex
but treatable brain disease.” As
private agency, we are free to find new, effective solutions to treat
the unique problems associated with drug abuse.
If you’d like to help us treat this insidious disease, you can
become part of the Alpha House community by making a contribution. There are several ways to do this. You can contribute by mail,
through payroll deduction,
or on-line,
or you can contribute items on our wish
list. All contributions are tax-deductible.
If
you cannot make a monetary contribution, consider contributing your
time. We have numerous volunteer
opportunities.

through payroll deduction
If
your company participates in the annual United Way campaign, you can
make a donation that will go directly to Alpha House by checking number 356
in the Contributor Choice section of your United Way pledge form.
Each pay period, you can have a few dollars deducted from your
paycheck. Those few dollars
add up and go a long way in helping us to meet the complicated
challenges of addiction.
In
addition, Alpha House is a Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) eligible
charity. The CFC provides all federal employees the opportunity to
“improve the quality of life for all…through a program that is
employee focused, cost-efficient and effective.”
If your are a federal employee, you can donate to Alpha House
through your CFC annual workplace giving campaign by designating CFC
code 8962.
You
can contribute to Alpha House on-line through United Way anytime. Just go to the United Way Web site at www.unitedwaypittsburgh.org
and click "Click here to donate now."
There are five simple steps to complete, starting with creating a
user name and password. Each step includes easy to follow instructions.
You
will designate that you want your donation to go to Alpha House in Step
3, Distribution. First,
under “Please choose from the options below”, you must click the
circle next to “No, Let me
choose the organization(s) or another United Way organization”.
Towards the middle of the page, in the “My
Agencies” section, click “Add
an Agency”. You can
either enter in the top half of the screen Alpha
House, Inc and Pennsylvania
and click “Search”, or
you can enter in the bottom half of the screen Alpha House’s agency
code 356.
This
is a quick way to help our clients overcome their addiction problems.
Contribute
items from our Wish List
Alpha
House always needs linens and household items for our residents.
If you would like to contribute new items from the wish list that
follows, you can send or drop them off at Alpha House, 435 Shady Avenue,
Pittsburgh, PA 15206. If
you do not want to shop for the items, but would like to take part in
making our community more comfortable for our residents, consider
contributing a gift certificate from a store like K-mart and we’ll do
the shopping for you.
